Vortrag: „Evolving Internet Business Models: Long-tail Economics, Mass Participation and Social Value Networks“

Heute gibt es an der Uni Münster, genauer bei der Wirtschaftsinformatik einen Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Rolf T. Wigand von der University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Klingt vom Inhalt her relativ interessant, also wer Zeit und Lust hat, kann ja mal vorbeischauen…

Traditional business models have been challenged and altered by the Internet, but it is difficult to clearly delineate or point one’s finger at what triggers or necessitates these changes. Consequently, it is still difficult to address the underlying fundamental requirements that constitute success for Internet-based business models. Business models show how a firm makes money to minimally sustain itself, but also how it is positioned in the value chain. Electronic commerce gave rise to new kinds of business models and such Internet-based models continue to evolve.

This presentation examines some common characteristics of currently evolving business models while taking into account social value networks as well as Web 2.0 and 3.0 considerations: technology and architecture, community and social considerations as well as web-enabled business models and processes. This evolution will be demonstrated at hand of current developments with such firms as eBay and Google, including Google’s recent $1.6 B purchase of YouTube and related developments.
